Unacast årets beste nordiske nykommer.
Norden er en av Europas hotteste oppstartsregioner. Men i Norge har det gått langt dårligere – med få suksesser og lite kapital. Da Norge stakk av med to priser under Nordic Startup Awards, var det langt bedre enn Norges posisjon skulle tilsi.
Nå er det blitt enda bedre etter at norske Unacast overtar prisen for beste nykommer, etter at danske Smartly.io er blitt disket.
“The Best Newcomer award is for companies less then 12 months in operation, and although Smartly.io is a fantastic company with fantastic growth, they can not be seen as a “Best Newcomer” according to the category description. This fault is with us,” skriver Nordic Startup Awards-sjef Kim Balle på nettsiden.
Det betyr at Norge nå står med tre priser fra kåringen – like mange som Danmark, og flere enn Sverige og Finland. Det er imponerende med tanke på at det norske oppstartsmiljøet henter inn lite finansiering og har hatt få virkelig store suksesser de siste årene.
Det er en hyggelig nyhet til Unacast som i morgen arrangerer åpningsfest i sine nye lokaler i Oslo. Selskapet hentet tidligere i år inn sin første finansieringsrunde på 13 millioner kroner.

Dear Nordic Ecosystem
We have had to correct an error in the nomination process where a more mature company has been nominated for Best Newcomer. The Best Newcomer award is for companies less then 12 months in operation, and although Smartly.io is a fantastic company with fantastic growth, they can not be seen as a “Best Newcomer” according to the category description. This fault is with us. Nordic Startup Awards is a platform for showcasing the Nordic startup scene internally and globally and we take this responsibility seriously which is why we will pass on the “Best Newcomer” for 2015.
The award for Best Nordic Newcomer should have gone to Unacast from Norway, and today we are rectifying that error by handing them the award. We congratulate them on the win, and we will work hard to avoid these situations in the future. We apologize BOTH to Smartly.io and Unacast for the confusion.
