A recent study in Silicon Valley identified where smart money VCs are investing in early-stage companies and how that investment focus has shifted in the past years.
This was based on review of key words used in the descriptions for companies that received early stage investments. We looked at the most common words used in company descriptions among those companies that received early-stage investment, and which words have trended up and down over the years.
The key to success for an investor or entrepreneur is often looking toward the future – ie in the words of Hockey Coach, Gretsky “see where the puck is going not where it has been”. Based on the direction of the market, it would appear autonomous devices using IOT-technology and artificial intelligence, growth in health / life sciences technology and environmental / sustainability solutions could be good bets for the future.
